Below you will find information on mid and northern Fairfield county schools by town, helping you compare school districts and find the best fit for your child. Each town section includes a quick click to a district wide report card, an overview of each town population by age (INCLUDING school age children by grade!), a summary of the school break-down for each town (i.e. 2 elementary, 1 middle, 1 high school, etc.) and a link to the town specific school page where you can view the report card for each school in the district*. Ridgefield
Ridgefield School District comprises six “neighborhood” elementary schools (PK-5), 2 middle schools (6-8) and one high school (9-12). Barlow Mountain Elementary, Scotland Elementary & Ridgebury Elementary each feed into Scotts Ridge Middle School. Veteran’s Park Elementary, Farmingville Elementary School, and Branchville Elementary School each feed into East Ridge Middle School. Both middle schools feed into Ridgefield High School.
Redding
Redding Public Schools is a single track school district comprising Redding Elementary School, (PK-4), John Read Middle School (5-8), and Joel Barlow High School (9-12), which joins with Easton as part of the Easton-Redding-Region 9 School District (ER9).

Weston
Weston School District is a single track school district comprising Hurlbutt Elementary School (PK-2), Weston Intermediate School (3-5), Weston Middle School (6-8) and Weston High School (9-12). Unusual for the area, all Weston schools lay along one continuous campus on “School Road”.

Wilton
Wilton School District is a single track school district comprising Miller Driscoll School (PK-2), Cider Mill School (3-5), Middlebrook School (6-8), and Wilton High School (9-12).

Bethel
Bethel School District comprises two early elementary schools, Frank A. Berry School (PK-2), Anna H. Rockwell School (PK-2), R.M.T. Johnson School (3-5), Bethel Middle School (6-8), and Bethel High School (9-12).

Brookfield
Brookfield School District is a single track school track which comprising Candlewood Lake Elementary School (PK-5), Whisconier Middle School (6-8) and Brookfield High School (9-12).

Danbury
Being the third most populated city in Connecticut, Danbury has a large school district encompassing 13 elementary schools, (including one magnet school), three middle schools, and as of August 2025, two high schools. Even with the addition of Danbury High School West, Danbury High School main campus remains the largest high school in Connecticut.

New Fairfield
New Fairfield School District is a single track school system comprising New Fairfield Elementary School (PK-5), New Fairfield Middle School (6-8), and New Fairfield High School (9-12). Similar to Weston, all three New Fairfield Schools are located on adjoining campuses (off of Gillotti Rd).

Newtown
Newtown School District comprises three elementary schools, one intermediary school, one middle school and one high school. The schools are Hawley Elementary School (K-4), Head O’Meadow Elementary School (K-4) Sandy Hook Elementary School (K-4), Reed Intermediate School (5-6), Newtown Middle School (7-8), and Newtown High School (9-12).
